I prefer to have a lock in spot, like on an inline skate. It gives you much better control over the sliding than if you have a flat/straight grind bar. With a 'V' in the middle (or in my case, a U), the surface you are grinding/sliding stays locked into the middle of your skate which prevents it from jamming up against your wheels and locking them up. That will cause your slide/grind to come to an abrupt stop.
