I got a video session in at the new park located just west of downtown San Antonio. The park was finished 2 months ago. It is mostly a street course but does have some transitional elements that make it fun... especially for learning.

I am finally getting the hang of 'flow' and am more often able to keep my speed up in order to pop back out. Still have not done any stalls though!

I will post another video here tomorrow, after I have finished editing.

Hey man, pretty cool video! You are definitely improving. You stop like me lol. Its a neat video of you dropping in. I just jump in so its cool to see it another way. Stalls arent too hard, just put your feet together when you hit the coping.

Just the video makes me itch to rollerskate! I can only hope the Dr. says my arm is as strong as it ever was........ Praying hard!!!!!! I'm sure I have a few weeks til, but just wishing ya know.

  Hey BH,
Nice! Definite & Obvious Progression from the last submission I saw from you, Bro. You're skating & it's showing. :)
1st: Lucky You to have that park all to yourself! That bowled mini-section you were working looks smooth & fun.
2nd: Park's open 2 months & already Grafitti. Typical.
3rd: Liked your coping work on the ledge/box.
4th: You were wrong when you said "Still NO Stalls".... technically you're doing Front-Side Stalls on your "pop-Outs", you're just not turning 'em back into the bowl yet, that's all!
Give yourself a little Cred. Looking forward to seeing your next post.

Oh Yeah, Thank You for taking my request for new postings seriously & acting so fast. Nice to wake up to a new sk8 video on a Sunday morning......may even drag my Ass back out into some triple digit heat (Summer's still alive & kickin in Vegas) for another session myself.

Keep Rollin on 8!
PEACE................................Jay

  Hey Again BH,
I don't know if you'd be interested or not, but I've recently done a couple of stall tutorial videos for my Dad. Not really the kinda stuff I'd post here on the Forum, but if you think it'd be useful hit me up on my email & I'll send you the links.

PEACE...................................Jay

I would also be interested! Esp. when you do a video on grinds. As I mentioned, my only grinds were basically a tall carve, not really going straight up and going into one.

Raven and I would like to come hit that park so that we could try out the down rail and ledge. Plus, that horseshoe bowl looks like it has a lot of potential for fun! :)

Waiting for your next video...

Thanks Jay, I have done a stall exactly twice. Both times were accidental and resulted in a fall. The second one twisted my left ankle and re-injured my tailbone. So, I really can't call it a stall unless it is followed by a successful re-entry. Both times I almost got the feeling like I could go fakie, but the confidence was simply not there and I froze between turning forward and rolling backward. I am all healed up now and ready for new things!

I was in the process of editing this video when you posted yours, so you just beat me to it! I put it off a little while and so it just happened to be right after yours. I must admit that seeing you video posted did encourage me to finish this one more quickly.

You name the time, and I will do all that I can to meet up with you Brother Biff! And Raven too! Work is soooo slowwww right now, the odds are good that I will be able to make it.

BTW, I am considering a trip up to Round Rock some Monday night in the near future. The weather has become quite pleasant lately with daytime highs only around 90.

Also, not sure if you are aware, but the city of Lockhart is in the final construction stage of their new skatepark. It should be finished by the end of the month, hopefully. Skatepark.org has all the good information on the project.

I'm not so sure Jay. I think that this forum is the ideal place for tutorial videos of park skating tactics. Is that not the whole idea behind the internet? To openly share information with other people with similar interests? Those videos that you are reluctant to post would also help other newbies who might be reading our posts but have yet to make themselves heard.

But, if you do not want to post them here then I would certainly appreciate a link via email. I have allowed my address to be visible for this post.

Claudine, once you get fairly comfortable rolling around a saktepark then skating on flat ground is really a safe bet. I usually go to the rink once a week for the adult skate night session. It helps keep the legs in shape when you can't make it to the park. Just a thought, you could also consider some other outside venue just to keep your legs firmed up.

WOW! That Lockhart park is going to be my new home away from home!!!!!!

Call me whenever you want to set up a time to meet to skate. I will not mind coming there some time as well. I love hitting new parks.

Here is the other video, as promised. I kept hitting a copyright wall trying to upload it... ended up changing the music a couple of times. Each re-edit with a different song took 30 minutes to compile, and another 10 minutes waiting to see if the upload would come out clean. What a PITA. I ended up with a better song in the end, I think. It was the one that I had originally wanted anyway. I sure hope it was worth the effort...

I was not even sure if this video should be posted, but my sister liked it. So there you go.

Love that song, BH! Got it on my mp3 player. Thanks for the video, it was a fun roller-coaster of a ride!!

What is the name of that park?

The park in that last video is named Lady Bird Park, named after the wife of president Lyndon B. Johnson. Everyone around here just calls it LBJ. It opened in 2003 and is the first concrete park in San Antonio. Now Martinez has opened as the second and there are 3 more scheduled for construction around the city starting next year. By 2011 we should have 5 concrete parks in addition to the 8 existing slab based parks.

You media slut! You got replies the first time, so yah......we saw it! :P~~ lol

Again, I'll say it....great music choice. Next week, I think we should meet for a skate. I'll let you know after this week what looks good. We might want to come there. Aren't you out by Schertz?

Yes Biff, I live in Converse which is a few miles farther south from Schertz.

I was considering driving up to Round Rock for this coming Monday Night. The weather should be perfect and I will certainly have the time for it. Of course, you guys could still come down here the next week too! But by that time the Lockhart park could be open to the public so we might get diverted away from the parks in San Antonio. That is, unless you can make time for an extra session.

Call me a whore all you like, but I myself had a hard time seeing that a new video had been posted... in my own thread! I know that you definitely watched it since you were the only one to comment at first, but I got the feeling that it scrolled down the list really fast and then disappeared into the bowels of the forum. SO :p back at you!

**I had listed my Captcha because I thought it was appropriate. If we come together to skate, it would provide us with 'UNITY, Mister'! What the heck does 'FALK kansas' have to do with anything???!!!! :P~~ (back at you)

'FALK kansas' has absolutely nothing to do with our conversation. I just found it to be an amusing statement... nothing more! It is almost like the reCaptcha has Tourette syndrome.

I have some family and friends living up in falking Kansas. There is nothing wrong with the state, other than the vast expanse of falking flatland. There is nothing to see up there unless you enjoy looking at crops. You just drive on a straight falking road for hours and can see the falking traffic coming at you for 5 minutes before passing by. There is really only one fun thing to do up there...
