Skorpion skates
Riding side stance is definitely better suited to low cut boots.

 Hello quadskaters,

I've been poolskating with my xsjados for five years now, and after having seen a video of Brian Wainwright with his quads a few years ago I've been longing to try that, too. Now I've been looking for quadskates in online shops and I've seen they don't sell stock quads anywhere. I came across skorpion skates and I considered them right away. Xsjados have never deceived me, so I thought these strap-ons were a good idea, but I wanted to know the opinion of experienced quadskaters.
So what do you think?

Cheers

I would NEVER buy them. They would only be suitable for very light recreational use. Touring would be ok, but they are slow, bulky, and you would trip over you own wheels, as they stick out too far. The only plus is that you can roll over semi rough terrain.

Don't do it.

I hope that someone who has experience with this setup can tell you something about this setup.

Anyhow, most rollerskaters in this forum ride on self-built skates. You can find information on how to do this on this site and I'm sure anyone who has built some skates her is willing to give you hints and tips.

Another option is to have a setup built. At least Gambin in Spain offers this service and maybe I could talk at least one other person into doing it.

There is so much good skateboard gear purpose built for pool/park/ramp skating and thats why the bulk of us build our skates with this gear.Check Gambins gear,,looks top notch or have a go at building your own,,not realy hard and very satisfying.I wouldn't go much wider than 4" trucks. What are the skates you've been skating on?Welcome to the forum by the by.

cheers joe

Thanks for the warm welcome and the clear responses. I should've known it was a bad idea.
Guess I'll have to be tinkering then.
A skate/surfshop in my city's having closing sales, so I'll have a look if I can catch myself some parts.

My current skates resemble these: http://ratemyskates.com/download.php?id=2901&attachid=4702
Yup, these are aggressive skates. Because of the system of attaching your shoe into it instead of having your foot float around in a one-size-fits-none boot it gives you a very controlled and responsive ride. At least, it's what I've learnt from the switch from USDs.

Oh yeah, here's a little edit a friend of mine made: http://www.youtube.com/user/Electriciteit#p/u/3/eBSK0zvH9RA
Unfortunately it's not at the pool.

Welcome to the club. You will see that is is rewarding in a very special way to ride your own, custum-built, unique skates.

This looks like you will be able to have a lot of fun on roller skates. You only have to be prepared to possible be the only one in your area. There aren't very many roller skaters, but they are a very friendly and helpful bunch. Plus I'm sure they will be very excited to welcome some fresh blood to their ranks.

I have a set of Skorpion Quadlines, they are really fast and super comfortable. I've never used the Multi Terrains, but that will be my next pair.

 Absolutely! Welcome.

I see you have been skating Xsjados. They are great to learn on, as far as inline skates go.

Here are two sites which lists skates for aggressive quad skating :

and :

Do you use them to skate aggressive terrain or vert? If so, I want to see the videos.

By the way Shon, who are you? You show up out of nowhere to post on an aggressive quad vert forum in order to steer people towards a product that is not meant for vert &/or aggressive skating. Seems peculiar to me.

I agree with everybody there. Soft plastic construction, not sure they will stand "agressive" skating very long.
However, they are cheap, light, and the strap system is cool (and very well built). For cruising softly in city streets, there are cool, as you can put them on/off, without removing your shoes/siting. However, the qualine wheels are poor in speed, they saturate. I wanted to test them on small ramp with small hard wheels, but icy winter, then out of order heel/ankle, are still preventing it or whatever Rskating.....
BTW: Remove the brakes for side stance....

A bit more there:

Thanks, biffsk8er. The Drops are too expensive, though, and the Psycho Carreras are cut too low for my taste.
I think I'll have a go at just using the leftover xsjado boots from my first pair. Drill the holes, put the trucks in, make some sliders... If ice hockey boots, which resemble inline boots, are suitable, then xsjados wouldn't be a bad idea right?

Well, there's no aggressive quadskaters here in the Hague, but I'm sure I'll put a smile on the faces of older skateboarders.

I'm used to be "the only one" at the pool. These days with everyone doing street a poolcarving inliner is a rare sight.

Using Xsjados, to make aggressive quads that go on overyour own shoes, sounds very intriguing!! Let me know how that works, and if possible, would you post pics later????

Welcome to the forum! Happy to hear of your new interest.
I would like to build a pair too, but cannot find small enough Xsjado bottoms for cheap.
It's been done and seems to work well.

A friend of mine uses Xjado boots on his quads, and he loves them:

Hi Irene!! Sorry for cross posting, it seems we are on line at the same time ;-) This is Quader, and he lives in Le Mans city(~200km from Paris). About twice a year, he organises a session at Le Mans skatepark (Le spot). Quader is really cool!!!

Does Quader hang out here, too? I wonder if he could give me some juicy details about how he drilled into the xsjados and whether he used a second baseplate.
I wonder whether riding sidestance would be feasible with such a high cuff, though.
My idea was to use army boots as boots if xsjados fail, but I still have my doubts, as I see ie Brian Wainwright riding with low cut boots.
I should read up on sidestance anyway, but the link on the site doesn't work anymore. Can anyone give me some links?

I'll stop rambling now.

I have a pair! I would not dare jump off anything on them though, no matter what they have on the promo videos. They flex just around where the length adjustment is, which is extremely disconcerting. However, very useful for slipping on and keeping up with the kids on their scooters. The twins tried to use them as skateboards, with predictable results...

I'm not sure xsjados would be suitable, then.

They're not that fast to put on, by the way. The shoe-in-a-skeletonconcept gives good control compared to other aggressive skates where your feet float in the boot. Your feet are strapped in tightly.
But apart from other obvious conveniences wearing a shoe and then putting skates on might bring, there aren't any more benefits than that.
