Spectacular! Bernhard you are the man! Now it will be very easy to catch up on missed posts when the forum has been very active, or after being away for several days or even weeks. It will also be easier to find the latest postings when browsing from a different computer since we can now approximate when the last viewed post was submitted and simply read upward from there. Also, responses to older topics will not get lost in the shuffle. For me, this is a major upgrade to this forum.

 I like the latest postings feature. I replied to some questions about SKATE-EIGHT and was not sure if I should have made a new posting but this makes it easy to see who said what most recently.

 I'm glad you like it. I'm not sure, however, if I should expand it event further. E.g. add a link to get a chronological view. This would allow one to catch up in the case one has been away for more than 30 postings.

 I would really like to see the entire forum in chronological order, if at all possible. Maybe the choice of viewing either way?

 It is possible. The challenge is that the initial generation of such a view will probably take longer than the server allows. This requires some tricky programming to circumvent this limitation. I'm at the moment doing some similar work for the tree view which is the main view for the forum. Don't know if and when I will come around to do it for a chronilogical view.

Once I have done a program to generate such a chronological page, I will of course also add a link to it. But the first step is by far the more complicated. I can't promise anything at the moment.

 I know a long time ago I asked to be able to view an entire thread and the tree works great. I usually just click on the tree and read everything that has been said on a particular thread. It turns out vert rolleskating is fairly popular. When I skate with the oldschool skateboarders they are always bringing up a rollerskater they skated with.

 Thanks for the kind words, Robert. But I think we use different vocabulary as to which one is the tree view. In my vocabulary, the tree view is the one where you see the message and the section "Replies", where there are links to all the messages in the thread ordered in such a way that the replies to a message are listed beneath it and are relatively indented to make this relationship more visible. The view where all messages in one thread are listed chronologically I call a total or linear view (but not a tree).

I have now implemented an extension to the "latest postings" view. There is a link "more" at the end where you can browse all messages in the forum in reverse chronological order.

 Hey, thanks for the praise! Seems this was a programming weekend for me. Sometimes there is a good side in bad weather ...

How usable do you find this new feature? I know that the navigation of those pages can be improved, but I am satisfied for now that I can provide them to the users of the forum.

I have to agree. If, for some reason, I were to be absent for a week, the reverse chronological order would allow me to get back up to speed in the order that the posts were made.

Already, the 30 Latest postings list, on the right, has been extremely helpful!! Nice work.
