: Wow, you are really determined! I know how it is to work some materials with inadequate tools. I have often cut screws with a jigsaw or drilled holes into boots with a manual drill. At least I have a power drill now!

Reminds me of how I was cutting pieces of rubber from the sole to make room for some nuts last year. The duller the knife, the more dangerous it is. I've still got that scar on my hand, and it'll stay for the time being. I hope that I'll never forget how I got it.

ok here is my design for my slider. they will now be about the height of my trucks and i think for now i will leave the bottom thick and flat as not sure if i want that "clasp" area. the new skates/plate is 1/4" further back now but the front trucks are the same.

Those look good! I think you should leave a bit more room between the wheels and the end of your sliders though, as the wheels will hit them when the truck flexes on turns. Otherwise, they look great!!

the space between the wheels and sliders are fine as my last set never had a problem and i'm doing the same placement of the sliders from trucks/wheels. and i've skated on this design for years. i'm just wondering if i should have that notch or leave it flat. i am lowering the height 2 mm in case i ever wear down my trucks. otherwise i'm cutting the insides now.

I personally like the notches for the purpose of 'locking-on' to rails and coping, as agro inliners do. I also think your very shallow notch is a very good way to try it out and see if it is right for you, too.

I do notice that most skaters have flat sliders. I tried flat sliders at one time, but I found that they make it hard, in certain situations, to control the slide/grind.

ok i think i will keep it but maybe make it 1/2" wider, no deeper but still something and i think enough room to latch on up front. otherwise i will slide and hit my wheels i think?

I love it! How did you make them?

Reminds me that I should take some time to fix my grinding gear as well. Perhaps try to contact gambin or something...

Gambin surely is a good option for building sliders.

well, if i can spend many months on a sculpture, i certainly can spend a couple weeks on my sliders. ;-D! the more work, the more i will love them. i will work on them some tomorrow but i know next weekend i should know how my design turned out.

i appreciate all the help you and this forum gave me to get me started, thanks so much Bernhard!!

I can only admire your determination and patience. I think I also love my roller skates but I did never spend weeks on my sliders. But I am quite happy that I made them height-adjustable during the last overhaul. I already used this feature to bring them closer to the boot again and I think I will put them ever more close to the boot.

Seems like we all have our skating-related injuries. I can remember breaking my hand, hitting my shin resulting in imflamated bone skin, (probably) breaking a rib, breaking my tail bone and lots of scars and bruised. Of course, also bruises from building but I think at least nothing as bad like your injury! I hope it doesn't cause you any trouble!

Luckily, it's not that big, but it was deep for sure. It bled more than my average wounds. It's nothing but a scar now, though. Nothing to worry about. Makes you think about what we do to our bodies though.
