Here are some pictures of the plates broken down a bit. Right now the price may seem high because each pair is custom made @ $750.00. They are cut from a solid chunk of Delrin. The ones pictured are solid and have not been hollowed out at all, I have been riding them for 8 yrs and 6' body jars are not uncommon. These plates only show wear in the sliding area, no bending, no breaking. Future versions will have; taller sliders with a longer arc from one end of the slider to the other, extra material removed from the back side for weight reduction...under the sliders and toe area. As far as sizing goes I maximized the length of the plate on my size 10 boot, you can give me the length of your boot soul and they will fit end to end. I don't know about the weight yet but will try to find out as soon as possible. Thanks for the interest, Brian

That is one hell of a design! I've never heard of that material before. I hadn't realized before, that the entire plate and slider are one single molded piece. With that design, are there any other companies' trucks that will fit them?

I'd love to own a pair, but I definitely cannot afford $750 right now. Other than having a larger market audience, is there anything that can be done to bring the price down? A different plastic? Sliders that attach to existing plates?

I'm sure that you hate these types of questions, as I know that this is a fantastically well made skate; which you poured your heart and soul into developing. I do not mean to insult your work, so feel free to sidestep these inquiry's entirely, if you'd rather not go into it.

Probably the material isn't what makes this expensive, but rather the specialist work time.

Especially if it is all machined by hand instead of being made from a mold.

From what I read on the internet, that plastic is normally machined. And looking at those plates, there are so many different angles to machine to spec! It might be easier to just make a slider/grinder to attach to existing set-ups. Using conventional skateboard trucks and hangers.

However, I'd really like for a long lost (deceased) relative to leave me a lot of cash right now! I'd buy them in a heart beat if I had the cash.

Exactly. And producing the mold costs in the order of $100000. At least it used to, maybe that cost has gone down, but you need a big up-front investment for mass production. After that, it gets cheap.

I also wish i had the cash to put down on these bad boys, though I don't actually think they're that expensive. The Playstation 3 was about the same price at launch over here, and you'd have way more fun spending it on these imo.

I'm guessing that just the plates, sans trucks, costs $750?? What doe the whole skate setup, as in this picture cost?

Those things are amazing. It is too bad there is not a market for vert rollerskates that would give a company a reason to invest the money it takes to be able to produce those at a lower cost. I would love a set, but with how limited my skating is these days, I could not justify spending that kind of money.

I will try to answer your questions.
I understand the concerns about cost, reducing the machine time is about the only way at this point to bring the cost down. The molds are incredibly expensive and that is why I'm just trying to cut custom ones for the moment.
The one piece design with integrated base plates really helps with the strength of the plate from end to end. All of my previous plates would bend or break in the middle from Body Jars and these have not, not in 8 yrs. This also allows for a lower center of gravity by eliminating the extra thickness of the separate base plate.
I weighed my entire skate with full-tracks and 62mm wheels and it came in at 4lbs 8.7oz. The plate itself weighed in at 1lb 2oz. They should get lighter on the next run because I am sure we can get rid of some unneeded material under the sliders and toe region.
These plates are an exact match for Trackers Mid, Full, Ex and Six Track trucks. The geometry for the pivots and king pin was laser scanned from a tracker base plate. It may be possible to mount other trucks I just have not tried it.
I love the questions....send me more.

You on fulltracks now Brian?I think a lot of the current truck geo is based closer to Indy specs so you may strugle to fit other hangers(pinion angle).I recon trackers a much nicer truck anyway, was always my choice till I saw the grindking minis, strong, light, inverted and low kingpin and nicely rounded front of baseplate for clean toe/heel fit. They handle realy nice too.I'd like em in a 3.75 or 4" hanger instead of 4.25 though.
Anyhoo if I come into money any time soon I'll buy a set as even though I like my current plates and am very impressed with the different aproaches you see on here, every design is ultimately heading towards these plates,,they exite me.
Thanx
cheers joe

Yeah full-tracks and love em. The thing about tracker is that they still make all of the sizes from mid through six, so you can take your pick. I have the inverted king pins on my skates and love not grinding down my bolts anymore.

That's the issue when it's not mass produced.

If there where a market for those plates and you could produce a series of e.g. 100000 plates, the price would come down very significantly. You would need to produce a tool for around 100000 dollars and then you could make the plate available for 10 to 100 dollars.

But if you produce each one individually, it's expensive.
