Ragnaroll: Trick names (24. Apr. 2019 15:00)
Hi Everyone, so excited to discover this forum filled with amazing content from the old days!
I hope you can help me out with some of these trick names, either if they have any "official names", just skateboard/inline names or not done before on quads, which I doubt hahaha

There are 6 and I added arrows pointing the direction of the grind to make clear if it's alley oop or not.

I hope there is someone here who knows! Thanks in advance :D

 Hi Ragnaroll,

cool to see you here in the forum! Some craty stunts you are performing! I do not have any names for them, I think an inline skater would be able to put a name on them since street skating was much more popular with inline skaters.

BTW: Where do you live?

 Hey!
Thanks a lot man. No problem, I’ve been told n2 is a feeble grind but it is actually the opposite of a feeble on skateboard so seem a little odd to me ^^
I live in Barcelona but I am in US now, next week I will be in LA if anyone wants to shred :)

Cool, someday I want to visit Barcelona and see the Sacrada Familia!

I'm just visiting a friend who is into skateboardind, inline skating and roller skating. He offers three trick names:

n2: One foot shifty
n3: One foot nose grind
n5: Unity

Naming tricks in the roller skate world is a rather difficult venture since there aren't many roller skaters and often tricks have no names at all or very obscure names or several names depending whom you ask.

 Thanks :)
Yes you should visit Barcelona, Sagrada Familia is beautiful and it's a great city to skate!
Cool, yes nosegrind and unity is how I was naming those tricks too. About nº2 I started doing these last year. As I've never seen anyone doing them and the position of trucks and body doesn't really resemble any skateboard trick (an overcroked grind kind of...) my friends started to call it ragna grind. Not that I care but good to know there isn't any name for it nor that it wasn't common trick back then... Shifty grind is pretty cool name!

I am experimenting a lot lately with truck grind variations and as most of old school skating was vert I guess there is a lot to invent and "name" for roller street skating. Was anyone really pushing grinds on quads before, like rails and such?

BTW I saw a picture of you on those skates with wooded deck, that's super sick! how do you call these things? I am pretty sure I saw someone skating this in the 90's somewhere, could have been you maybe??

Indeed I know of people having tried truck grinds on vert and on street obstacles and there are probably many roller skaters who did such things and I don't know about it.

You can see some tricks like this here in the video section, e.g. from biffsk8er:

https://adinfinitum.de/php/browsevids.php?theme=Vert-Skating&from=biffsk8er

(When searching the videos I noticed that their display was broken and fixed it. If you notice something is broken on this site, please tell me!)

Ther pictures section seems to be also broken. Keep nagging me to fix it. Now I have to go to bed.

Maybe you mean Holger Sander like on this picture?

Hey, back in the 80s we didn't really have names for tricks. I may have used some skateboard trick names because that is who I skated with.

You are right. Trick names where mostly borrowed from Skateboarding. But if something had no similarity with a skateboard trick, we also invented new names like "Shell fish" of "Calippo plant". We were too few to be in confrontation with ths skateboarders so we peacefully co-existed.

I agree. I would have been skating alone if not for skateboarding friends. We all got along and supported each other. I'm not sure if it's that way now.
