	I hate to admit this, but I really dont like my hockey boots. I have narrow feet except my toe box, and the heel and toes in these hockey boots are moving all over the place. I have no support at the heel so now that I'm trying to carve on the ramps, its not fun. My feet move and my boots dont go with them like I like and there is zero mobility. Also the high boot is very rigid so I cant bend well nor can I lace them up high since then I cant bend my ankle at all to bend my knees. I have a pair of 297 Riedell art skates and on the verge of taking them to the skatepark (these fit great!) but besides the fact I cant afford to ruin those, the heel is too high I think. So what types of speed boots have people used and like? I am thinking of riedell 125, 265, 595 and 695. Leaning towards 265 since the 125 is less supportive, dont think I want zero heel and the 695 is pricey. I'm too scared to try carreras since I seem to have feet that fit nothing and those wont cradle the foot unless you have a certain foot. I have no confidence anymore that my foot will fit anything seriously rigid and I have had no luck with cheap boots either. I want something with the most support, mostly arch and definitely heel, but will also hold up. I want to start skating the bowls nearby! I need to move and right now I cant move well, my feet hurt, my fingers hurt from trying to lace them tighter and tighter and now I have 10 mm of insoles in them lol. No joke. Just put another one in today so that my feet stop sliding around when I skate. I'm hoping for an early birthday/Christmas present but I cant afford to mess up anymore. Can I cut the top off with a razor blade? I'm serious about this one. If I can move, maybe they will do for awhile. If I beat them with a mallet, will the sides soften up? I'm desparate......... I want to carve!

	: You could try wearing a pair of aggro inline skate liners inside your boots, if they're really too big for you. That would pad things up a lot. Would that be seriously hot? Its a 100 degrees here. Right now I have my thick orthotics plus 2 insoles in each skate to take up some width space but they still dont fit my heel well. It can still move and I dont like that. Can I cut the top off? I'm serious. I cant stand the rigidity of the tall boot. I dont have them laced on top so it just restricts me from moving. I really want to skate the bowls now and I dont like the lack of movement when I try to carve. Its OK if I just go straight up and down. I'm used to my art boots which hug my feet but I still had ankle mobility. How much do you think I could get for those on ebay? My brother said to do that. Man, I'm so mad at myself for messing up! The more I skate, the less I like the boots. They were OK when I couldnt do much. Wish I new how I could move in them.

But don't count on it. It hasn't happened in 8 years. : Vertical roller skating, I hope, gets popular one day. It already is by far more popular than I thought when I launched my first web page. Back then I thought I was the only roller skater surviving the inline boom, : I'm really happy there is such a site. I'm really happy about all those nice and crazy roller skaters out there. You people are the greatest!

	A couple things to try first. Head down to the thrift shops (Sally Ann, Goodwill, Valu Village, etc.) and find a pair of $5.00 plastic shell inlines with liners that fit you. Put the liners in your quads and try them on. If they're too tight in the toes, cut the toe area of the liners back a little at a time till you find the spot where things fit comfy. They may seem a little warm at first but you get used to it (it does get hot here in Canada too). New aggro liners go for $40 to $75 a pair so you don't want to be slicing up new ones. Don't cut your skates down. You'll destroy them. There's plastic and nylon and foam that will turn into a big mess. You don't need to tie them all the way to the top. Ice and inline hockey skates are not meant to bend sideways like quad boots need to so there's no way they'll be comfortable done up to the top. Just up to the ankle bone is plenty. If I can get 1/4th inch liners all around, it would do for now.

MD isnt for skating unfortunately. I"m planning to move one day, maybe LA it seems. But I just dont have lots of free time to shop around either nor do I care for the crowds. I might be the only female to say this but I dont like shopping. boring, boring, boring. Would dipping my boots in water help to soften them up? Its an idea that was passed to me. Seems like I might have my hands on some speed boots though!

I'm glad this site is here! If it werent for the Internet, I wouldnt have had any idea how much fun I could have. One day I hope to see another roller skater outside the rink. I guess I've got to accept that hockey boots are built straight, bulky, non conforming and wide and my feet are curvy, narrow and not accepting of rigidity lol. I've got stubborn womans feet!! Even with all those insoles in them, since they dont conform nor cradle my feet, I have about as much support in my heels and ankles as if I were skating in chucks. There's a ton of movement in my heels. It really can roll a lot. But I guess if I were to get in a bad crash sideways, the rigid sides would prevent a total break. I just never crashed sideways really. I'll keep an eye out for liners. Maybe I'll be lucky. Thats probably the best solution besides ebay.
