Content:	: Hello all. I have been posting over at the Skatelog Forum, and met up with Biff through that site. We had a good time checking out a freshly poured skatepark in between San Antonio and Austin. I want to thank him for allowing me to witness his talent first hand. He and Raven owned everything that they tried. : I skate front stance and am still in the learning process after 3 years skating on and off in the park. Yesterday morning I fell while tearing through the bowl at the local park. My right skate was damaged in the process, thought I am still not sure if the fall caused the damage, or if the skate failed and thus caused the loss of control. Either way, I now wish to build a new setup without using the Sure Grip skate parts. My left knee got a good twist and is hurting now, as well as my tail bone. So, crafting a plate assembly with skateboard trucks will hopefully decrease my chances of plate breakage in the future. : Does anyone here have experience with the Seismic trucks? The action system is intriguing to me, and many skateboarders on other forums have good things to say about them. : I will try to post a few pics of my skates so that you can see what I have been working with. I had always thought that the SuperX plates were indestructible, but with the WIDE ramp trucks installed (these have thicker pivots than standard Sure Grip trucks) eventually the stress was too much. Also, has anyone actually tried cutting lightly used skateboards to use as a base skate plate? The assumption seems to be that these would be too heavy and prone to breakage, but skateboarders put a lot of effort toward abusing those things, and the boards hold up really well. Suggestions? Hello and welcome! Seems like there have been a row of mechanical problems here lately, but it does force one to rebuild and see what the inspiration creates. I've never seen damage like that on those plates, usually the pivot breaks off first. Krux have a low profile, are light and offer a slightly narrower truck. Aluminum sheeting is light but needs to be thick enough not to flex. I'm fixing my right skate too, missing screw. Sorry to hear of your fall, glad it wasn't worse. I guess while we heal, we still think of skating and building, nuts! Heal fast. :-) RC in 3 wks, can't wait to meet Biff and Raven in person. 	Welcome to this forum! It's always refreshing to see someone else involved in this crazy stuff. I'm sorry to hear of your fall and wish you a speedy recovery. Hopefully no serious damage has been done to your knee! The knee is a delicate part of our body ... Did you have pivot bushings on your pivot? If not, I could imagine that your plate has worn out and that this has been the cause ofg the failure. Regarding Seismic trucks I have to admit that I have no experience but am impressed with the technology. I am not sure, however, if it offers a significant advantage to more conventional trucks. But whatever flows your boat ... : Also, has anyone actually tried cutting lightly used skateboards to use as a base skate plate? Holger Sander did exactly this. Some people use skis.

	Hey beer hunter nice job on the plates doood.Your a lucky bloke to have witnessed the unique style and talent of Biff in the flesh.If you browse the pics in this forum there are quite a few various ideas for plate setup but you'll find not many folks using any regular rollerskate parts as they just were'nt made for this kind of punishment.As for siesmics,,I belive the stability ,turnability and tuneability(variable spring rates)are the standout features that hill based skaters rave about but I recon the weight is gonna be your biggest problem.Most any of the popular brands are gona have enough of all those good points without the weight factor,just gota find a brand that offers the width your after.Cannot go wrong with Tracker, Indipendent or grind king.By the by,,welcome to the forum mate,look forward to seeing what you come up with. cheers joe : Welcome to this forum! 	The skis seem to work best for a plate! I would go with sheet metal if your heavy. I am no expert on trucks. I am tiny so I have the smallest width trucks and happy with those. 	Nice to have you here bro. You have me worried now. I have noticed that my pivot cushion has gotten all thrashed and have been meaning to order some. I really hope my pivot area does not break.
