Re:cutting toes off of inline boots
I knew one vert rollerskater in hockey boots, but he played ice hockey, so it made sense. I find high boots too restrictive, hence the speed skating boots (ankle height). I don't find ankle support a problem in these boots.

Funny, I have an old pair of rollerblades, which I am intending on cutting off just the toes to attach to my new Riedell boots. I will need to pad them on the inside for some toe protection (I slammed my toe into the vert really hard once, my toe turned colors) and just to protect the boots from scuffs and wear from knee sliding (no more duct tape). I guess I'll glue them on or attach them somehow.
For us, it's whatever works with whatever we can get our hands on.
