Holger Sander is one of the living legends of vertical roller skating. He's been at it almost since the dawn of time and he is still ripping! You could meet him at almost any roller skate contests in the 80's and 90's. He's been famous for his style and his wall to wall McTwists. Nowadays you can meet him at many skateboard vert events where he is participating on his skateboard. Not only is he a very proficient roller skater but he also rides the skate board very well. Holger started to ride the half pipe in parallel stance and then switched to side stance. He did quite some innovations to the side stance technique. Starting with a setup not uncommon for a vertical roller skater, he later used the tips of a pair of skies which allowed him to do nose slides on roller skates. The next step for him was to use a skate board cut in half to which he attached snow board bindings. They are attached at an angle with the effect that side stance riding becomes less strenuous.
He is living in Cologne where he does some art work. He creates skating related sculptures and sun stars under the label DeformEurope.
